CRUZ, R.A., J.:
Even if We liberally construe the rules on prescriptive period, still, the same must be dismissed. The Petition for Review under Rule 42 of the Rules of Court filed by petitioners seeks to reverse and set aside the Decision dated July 8, 2013[2] of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Quezon City, Branch 222 in Special Civil Action No. Q-12-72344. It is to be noted that the case (Special Civil Action No. Q-12-72344) is a Petition for Certiorari which was taken cognizance of by the RTC in the exercise of its original jurisdiction, hence, the proper remedy is through a notice of appeal under Rule 41 of the Rules of Court. By availing of a wrong or inappropriate mode of appeal, the petition merits an outright dismissal.
WHEREFORE, in view of the foregoing, the Petition for Review is DISMISSED.
SO ORDERED.
