PROCLAMATION NO. 244, March 27, 1951

MAKING PUBLIC THE DESIGNATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MAMBURAO AS THE CAPITAL OF MINDORO OCCIDENTAL

Presidential Proclamations March 27, 1951



WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of
Republic Act No. 505, creating the Province of Mindoro Occidental, the capital
of said province shall be the municipality designated by at least five
municipal councils of the municipalities therein, the designation to be made
not later than fifteen days after the constitution of the same province;

WHEREAS, the Province of Mindoro Occidental was
duly constituted on November 15, 1950, when Republic Act No. 505 mentioned
above went into effect in accordance with Proclamation No. 186, series of 1950;
and

WHEREAS, the municipality of Mamburao has been
designated by the municipal councils of Mamburao, Santa Cruz, Abra de Ilog,
Paluan, and Looc, of said province, in their respective resolutions adopted
within the statutory period;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of
the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby make
public the designation of the municipality of Mamburao as the capital of the
Province of Mindoro Occidental.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 27th day of
March, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-one, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the fifth.
