DECLARING THE YEAR 2027 AS THE “PHILIPPINE INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT STUDIES GOLDEN JUBILEE YEAR”

WHEREAS, Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1201 created the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) as a non-stock, non-profit government corporation attached to then National Economic and Development Authority, now Department of Economy, Planning, and Development, for policy and program coordination;

WHEREAS, under PD No. 1201, the PIDS is mandated to develop a comprehensive and integrated research program in support of the formulation of national development plans and policies, serve as a common link between the government and research institutions, undertake and facilitate research for the government, conduct joint studies with domestic research facilities for the government, conduct joint studies with domestic research institutions, and maintain a repository of economic research information;

WHEREAS, since its establishment, the PIDS had served as a government research institution providing policy-oriented research and analysis on economic, social, and development issues, thereby contributing to evidence-based policymaking and supporting the formulation and assessment of national development policies and programs;

WHEREAS, on 26 September 2027, the PIDS will commemorate its 50th anniversary, presenting an opportunity to recognize its contributions over the past five decades to evidence-based policymaking, socioeconomic planning, policy evaluation, and research dissemination; and

WHEREAS, Section 17, Article VII of the Constitution vests in the President the power of control over all the Executive departments, bureaus, and offices, and the mandate to ensure the faithful execution of laws;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND R. MARCOS, JR., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare the year 2027 as the “PIDS Golden Jubilee Year.”

All agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations and state universities and colleges, are hereby directed, and all local government units, non-government organizations, and the private sector are hereby encouraged, to actively participate and render the necessary support and assistance for the effective implementation of this Proclamation.

IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
