DECLARING THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 1953, AS FIGHT CANCER DAY

WHEREAS, cancer, a disease of unknown causation,
poses a serious threat to the lives of countless Filipinos who may not even be
aware of its presence;

WHEREAS, to meet this threat, it is necessary to
conduct a campaign of public information about this dreaded disease;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of
the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare
Thursday, March 19, 1953, as Fight Cancer Day and enjoin all of the people of
the Philippines to join the crusade against this mysterious disease.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila this 6th day of March,
in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-three, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the seventh.
