Bilateral
The Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of Chile, desiring to strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries, have entered into an agreement for the exemption from visa requirements of holders of diplomatic and official passports under the following terms:
- The nationals of the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Chile who are holders of valid diplomatic or official passports shall be exempt from the visa requirements to enter the Republic of Chile or the Republic of the Philippines, respectively.
- The holders of diplomatic and official passports who are serving in the corresponding diplomatic mission or consular establishments and have been accredited as members of the staff of such mission may freely enter, stay in, and leave the receiving country for the duration of their mission.
- The holders of diplomatic and official passports other than those mentioned in paragraph 2 may remain for a period of three months in the territories of the Contracting Parties. This period may, at the discretion of their respective competent authorities, be renewed for another three months.
- The waiver of the visa requirements provided under the present Agreement does not exempt the holders of these passports from observing the applicable laws, rules, and regulations in force in the Contracting Parties with respect to entry to, residence in, and departure from their respective countries.
- Both Governments reserve the right to permit entry as discretionary, when they consider it inconvenient to allow the entry of a particular individual in their respective countries.
- The present Agreement shall enter into force once the Contracting Parties notify each other in writing that the Agreement has been ratified in accordance with their respective constitutional requirements.
It shall remain in force for a period of five years and shall be considered automatically renewed for the same period unless terminated by either Contracting Party in writing through diplomatic channels at least ninety (90) days before the date of termination.
