DECLARING THE TWENTY-SECOND DAY OF JULY OF EACH YEAR AS “WORLD HEALTH DAY”

WHEREAS, the first World Health Assembly adopted
a resolution in July, 1948, suggesting that the 22nd day of July of each year
be set aside as “World Health Day”;

WHEREAS, the observance of a “World Health Day”
would arouse public interest in, and support of, the aims of the World Health
Organization, of which the Philippines is a member; and

WHEREAS, the health of mankind is one of the
factors contributory to world peace, harmony and understanding;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of
the Philippines, do hereby declare the twenty-second day of July of each year
as “World Health Day.”

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Baguio this 4th day of May,
in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the third.
