DECLARING WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 1953, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN THE CITY OF BASILAN.

WHEREAS, the fifth anniversary of the organization of the City of Basilan
falls on July 1, 1953; and

WHEREAS, the people of said city desire to be afforded full opportunity to
celebrate the event with appropriate ceremonies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, by virtue
of the authority vested in me by section 30 of the Revised Administrative Code,
do hereby proclaim Wednesday, July 1, 1953 as a special public holiday in the
City of Basilan.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I, have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the
Republic of the Philippines, to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 11th day of June, in the year of Our Lord,
nineteen hundred and fifty-three, and of the Independence of the Philippines,
the seventh.
