PROCLAMATION NO. 17, December 26, 1946
DECLARING TUESDAY, DECEMBER 31, 1946, A SPECIAL BANK HOLIDAY
WHEREAS, a petition has been received from the
associated banks of Manila requesting that the thirty-first day of December,
nineteen hundred and forty-six be declared a bank holiday so as to enable the
banks to continue without interruption the heavy work incident to the closing
of their accounts at the end of the year;
WHEREAS, the thirtieth day of December, nineteen
hundred and forty-six, and the first day of January, nineteen hundred and
forty-seven, are public holidays, the thirty first day of December, nineteen
hundred and forty-six, can be declared a special bank holiday to the great
advantage of the banks and no disadvantage will result to the public in
general;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Manuel Roxas, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the authority vested in me by section 30 of the
Revised Administrative Code, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, December thirty-first,
nineteen hundred and forty-six, as a special bank holiday.
Done at the City of Manila, this 26th
day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-six, and
of the Independence of the Philippines, the first.
