PROCLAMATION NO. 356, November 25, 1952

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 19 TO 25, 1953, AS TRAFFIC ACCIDENT PREVENTION WEEK AND AUTHORIZING THE NATIONAL TRAFFIC COMMISSION TO SOLICIT DONATIONS THEREFOR.

WHEREAS, the Government is determined to solve
the country’s traffic problems with a view to minimizing accidents and the
resultant loss of human lives and property; and

WHEREAS, to achieve this objective, it is
necessary that the National Traffic Commission conduct an educational campaign
by issuing leaflets, posters, and banners and setting up billboards or
signboards designed to emphasize the necessity of observing traffic safety
rules and regulations;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of
the Philippines, do hereby declare the period from January 19 to 25, 1953, as
Traffic Accident Prevention Week and designate the National Traffic Commission
to take charge of all activities for the effective observance of the week.
Having no funds at its disposal the Commission is hereby authorized to solicit
donations in cash or in kind for the purpose of carrying into effect the aim of
this proclamation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in. the City of Manila, this 25th day of
November, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-two, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the seventh.
