PROCLAMATION NO. 217, November 03, 1950
DESIGNATING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 9 TO NOVEMBER 15 OF EACH YEAR AS CLEAN-UP-WEEK AND CREATING COMMITTEES FOR THE PURPOSE.
In order to properly imbue the people of the Philippines
with the importance of cleanliness and so that public health and sanitation may
be placed on a higher level, I, Elpidio Quirino, President Of the Philippines
by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, and upon the recommendation of the
National Committee on Clean-Up-Week, do hereby designate the period from
November 9 to November 15 of each year as Clean-Up-Week. All public officials,
civic entities, and the people in general shall cooperate in and contribute to
the proper observance of Clean-Up-Week.
The following committees, which shall be in charge of the
programs to be observed during the Clean-Up-Week, are hereby created:

The above committees are hereby empowered to appoint such
sub-committees as may be necessary to carry into effect the objectives of this
proclamation
Upon the termination of the Clean-Up-Week, all municipal
committees shall submit full reports of their accomplishments to the provincial
committees, which shall in turn submit a consolidated report to the national
committee. Chartered city committees shall make their reports directly to the
national committee. The national committee shall consolidate all reports and
submit a concise account of the same to the President of the Philippines.
This Proclamation supersedes Proclamation No. 20, dated
January 13, 1947.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused
the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 3rd day of November, in the
year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty, and of the Independence of the
Philippines, the fifth.
