PROCLAMATION NO. 18, January 01, 1947
RESERVING THE NAMES OF CERTAIN MOUNTAINS IN THE PHILIPPINES FOR NAMING GOVERNMENT COAST GUARD VESSELS EXCLUSIVELY.
WHEREAS , prior to the outbreak of the Pacific
War, the Bureau of Customs was operating four vessels in the Philippine Coastguard
Service named after the mountains of Apo, Arayat, Banahaw and Canlaon; and
WHEREAS, the Government has acquired or will soon
acquire vessels for patrol service in Philippine waters and it is desired that
they be named after the well-known mountains in the Philippines;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Manuel Roxas, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby reserve the
names “Apo,” “Pulog,” “Halcon,” “Canlaon,” “Mayon,” “Banahaw,” “Isarog,”
“Bulusan,” “Makiling,” and “Arayat,” which are the names of the ten well-known
mountains in the Philippines, for naming coast guard vessels of the Philippine
Government exclusively.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done at the City of Manila, this 1st
day of January, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, and
of the Republic of the Philippines the first.
