PROCLAMATION NO. 369, February 13, 1953
DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM MARCH 15 to 21 OF EVERY YEAR AS PHILIPPINE INDUSTRY WEEK.
WHEREAS, there is an abundance of basic raw
materials in the Philippines which await commercial utilization and industrial
exploitation;
WHEREAS, the development of the Philippine
industries is essential to the rapid growth of the country as well as to the
promotion of economic security;
WHEREAS, it is necessary to focus the attention
of the people to the progress achieved by local industries and to foster a
national consciousness for the patronage of locally manufactured products; and
WHEREAS, it is advisable to arouse greater
encouragement and inspire more enthusiasm in the establishment of Philippine
industries in order to provide more opportunities for employment and to raise
the standard of living of the people;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of
the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby declare
the period from March 15 to 21 of every year as Philippine Industry Week and
enjoin the celebration thereof with appropriate ceremonies.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 13th day of
February, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-three, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the seventh.
