PROCLAMATION NO. 354, November 14, 1952

DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM NOVEMBER 17 TO 23, 1952, AS PHILIPPINE NATIONAL SCIENCE WEEK AND CREATING A COMMITTEE TO TAKE CHARGE OF THE OBSERVANCE THEREOF.

Realizing that human progress greatly depends upon the
achievements in science, that scientific education in this country has been
handicapped by lack of satisfactory media for the exchange of ideas concerning
new methods and techniques, and that it is necessary to give impetus to
scientific endeavors, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, do
hereby declare the period from November 17 to 23, 1952, as Philippine National
Science Week, to be observed in schools, colleges and universities and
elsewhere throughout the country with appropriate ceremonies.

A committee to take charge of the observance of Philippine
National Science Week is hereby created, composed of the following:

The Secretary of Health

Chairman

The Secretary of Agriculture and
Natural Resources

Member

The Secretary of Education

Member

The Director of Science and
Technology

Member

The Officers (pro tem) of the
Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science

Members

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused
the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 14th day of November, in
the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-two, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the seventh.
