PROCLAMATION NO. 221, November 18, 1950
DECLARING THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1950, AS A SPECIAL PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR NATIONAL THANKSGIVING.
WHEREAS, Divine Providence has bestowed upon us
untold blessings for which we are infinitely grateful; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that for such bounty a day
be set aside on which to dedicate our noblest thoughts in prayer and
thanksgiving to Almighty God;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ELPIDIO QUIRINO, President of
the Philippines, do hereby declare Thursday, November 23, 1950, as a special
public holiday for national thanksgiving. I call upon all the people to turn
their thoughts and actions on that day towards Almighty God and offer a prayer
of thanks to Him for all the Blessings He has showered upon us.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 18th day of
November, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty and of the
independence of the Philippines, the fifth.
