PROCLAMATION NO. 139, August 30, 1949
MAKING PUBLIC THE ACCESSION OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES TO THE CONVENTION ON THE PRIVILEGES AND IMMUNITIES OF THE SPECIALIZED AGENCIES ADOPTED ON NOVEMBER 21, 1947.
WHEREAS, a Convention on the Privileges and
Immunities of the Specialized Agencies was approved by the United Nations on
November 21, 1947, in its Resolution No. 179 (II);
WHEREAS, the objective of the convention is the
unification as far as possible of the privileges and immunities enjoyed by the
United Nations and the various specialized agencies;
WHEREAS, the Senate of the Philippines, by its
Resolution No. 91, adopted on May 17, 1949, concurred in the accession thereto
of the Republic of the Philippines; and
WHEREAS, the Republic of the Philippines has
formally acceded to the said convention;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it known that I, Elpidio
Quirino, President of the Philippines, do hereby proclaim and make public the
said Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialized Agencies, a
copy of which is hereto attached, to the end that the same and every article
and clause thereof may be observed with good faith by the Republic of the
Philippines and the citizens thereof.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 30th day of
August, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the fourth.
