PROCLAMATION NO. 135, July 20, 1949

PROVIDING FOR THE DISPLAY OF THE NATIONAL FLAG OF THE PHILIPPINES AT HALF MAST ON THE OCCASION OF THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE FRANK MURPHY.

Presidential Proclamations July 20, 1949



WHEREAS, the Honorable Frank Murphy, former
Governor General of, and United States High Commissioner to, the Philippines,
died on July 19, 1949; and

WHEREAS, the death of the Honorable Frank Murphy
is greatly felt by the Filipino people, to whose welfare he was intensely
devoted;

NOW, THEREFORE, in token of loving remembrance of
the late Frank Murphy, and as an expression of our people’s bereavement for the
untimely and irreparable loss, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby
order that the national flag of the Philippines shall be displayed at half mast
on all public buildings and installations during the period from July 20th to
26th of this year.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 20th day of
July, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the fourth.
