PROCLAMATION NO. 126, April 29, 1949
PROVIDING FOR THE DISPLAY OF THE NATIONAL FLAG OF THE PHILIPPINES AT HALF MAST ON THE OCCASION OF THE DEATH OF MRS. AURORA ARAGON QUEZON.
WHEREAS, on the twenty-eighth day of April,
nineteen hundred and forty-nine, Mrs. Aurora Aragon Quezon, widow of the late
President Manuel Quezon, together with close relatives and friends, met a
tragic death on the road between Boñgabon, Nueva Ecija, and Baler, Quezon
Province; and
WHEREAS, the death, of Mrs. Aurora Aragon Quezon
is an irreparable loss to her family and to the Filipino people to whose
welfare she dedicated her life fully with utmost zeal and devotion;
NOW, THEREFORE, in token of loving remembrance of
the late Mrs. Aurora Aragon Quezon, and as an expression of bereavement by our
people for the untimely and immeasurable loss, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of
the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order
that the national flag of the Philippines shall be displayed at half mast on
all public buildings and installations during the period from April 29 to May 7
of this year.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand
and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 29th day of
April, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, and of the
Independence of the Philippines, the third.
