PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1844, April 29, 1982

AMENDING PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1843, AS AMENDED, BY HOLDING IN ABEYANCE THE ABOLITION OP THE TWO LUPONG TAGAPAG-PAGANAP NG POOK IN REGION IX AND XII.

Presidential Decrees April 29, 1982



WHEREAS, under Presidential Decree No. 1843, the two
existing Lupon Tagapagpaganap ng Pook or Executive Councils m Region IX and XII
had been abolished upon the expiration of the terms of their present members on
May 7, 1982 and the two Lupons are merged into one with set of office in
Zamboanga City;

WHEREAS, the merging of the two councils will not become
operational until it shall have been approved by the people operational until it
shall have been approved by the people of the said two regions in plebiscite to
be held on May 18, 1928;

WHEREAS, to prevent a hiatus in the administration of
Regions IX and XII, there is a need to hold in abeyance the abolition of the two
existing councils.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby
order:

SECTION 1. Any provision of law, decree or order to the
contrary notwithstanding, the existing Lupong Tagapag-paganap ng Pook in Regions
IX and XII shall continue to function until such time as the new Lupong
Tagapag-paganap ng Pook created under Sec. I of P.D. 1843, as amended, shall
have been fully constitute and operational.

SEC. 2. This Decree shall take effect immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 29th day of April in the year of Our Lord,
nineteen hundred and eighty-two.
