MODIFYING THE RATE OF CUSTOMS DUTIES ON CORN AND COAL AND COKE

Presidential Decrees June 11, 1984



WHEREAS, excessively high tariff rates encourage inefficient
domestic production;

WHEREAS, particularly in the case of basic commodities, an
adequate level of tariff protection for domestic producers should be
maintained;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby
order and decree:

SECTION 1. Tariff Heading No. 10.05 of Chapter 10 and Nos.
27.01 and 27.04 of Chapter 27 of Presidential Decree No. 1464, as amended, is
hereby further amended to read as follows:

SEC. 2.—All laws, Executive Orders, Letters of Instructions,
rules and regulations inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed or modified
accordingly.

SEC. 3.—This Decree shall take effect on August 15,1984.
