PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 180, April 27, 1973

AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4666 PROHIBITING THE EXPORTATION OF FIBER (BUNTAL) OR FILAMENTS OF THE PLANT COMMONLY KNOWN AS “BURI”

Presidential Decrees April 27, 1973



WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 4666 provides for a total ban on
the export of fibers (buntal) or filaments of the plant commonly known
as ”Buri”; and

WHEREAS, the total prohibition has adversely affected the
buri industry resulting in the dislocation of farmers or workers who
depend on the industry for livelihood;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the
Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution as
Commander-in-Chief of all the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and
pursuant to Proclamation No. 1081, dated September 21, 1972, and General
Order No. 1, dated September 22, 1972, do hereby amend Section 1 of
Republic Act No. 4666 to read as follows:

SECTION 1. Except upon prior authorization by the
President or his duly authorized representative, it shall be unlawful
for any person, corporation, firm or association, to export to any
foreign country fibers (buntal) or filaments of the plant commonly known
as “Buri” (corypha elata) or seeds or seedlings thereof.”

Done in the City of Manila, this 27th day of April, in the year of
Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-three.
