Supreme Court Addresses P6 Million Bribery Incident Involving Court Employee

The Supreme Court of the Philippines has issued a statement regarding the arrest of a court employee from Branch 108, Regional Trial Court in Pasay City, for allegedly accepting a bribe of six million pesos (PHP 6,000,000) to influence a civil case judgment. The employee claimed the bribe was solicited under the instructions of Judge Albert Taoingan Cansino, who has recently been in the news for ordering the arrest of vlogger Toni Fowler on cybercrime charges.

Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo has directed Court Administrator Raul B. Villanueva to investigate the incident and submit a report with recommendations by May 27, 2024. This prompt action underscores the judiciary’s commitment to maintaining integrity and transparency within its ranks.
